1.  Direct drawing of nodal and line supports

•   A new function allows drawing nodal and line supports directly. Picking up and calculating stiffness are also supported.

2.  Show selected elements only

•   A new speed button toggles between displaying only the selected elements and dispaying the whole structure. Faster than part definition and can be used for reporting purposes as well.

3.  New functions to adjust load panel geometry

•   In Version 12 load panels are used to define areas where snow and wind loads act. In Release 3 existing load panel geometry can be edited on the Loads tab, by dragging the load panel outline and using geometry functions from the palette. If you want to move load panel corner points but you cannot drag them becuase the cursor identifies model nodes you can turn off display of nodes with the Symbols speed button.

4.  New function to redefine the load bearing elements under load panels

•   A new function allows changing the load bearing elements under the selected load panels. Three options are available: 1.) setting load bearing elements according to the original definition, 2.) setting all elements under the load panel (automatic) 3.) reconsider the selection of load bearing elements (in this case the load bearing elements appear selected and changes can be made).

6.  Averaged section segment result tables

•   Averaged section segment result tables display the averaged values calculated over subsegments between points where the function changes sign. So the number of information blocks depends on the behaviour of the function and may be different for different result components. The following data is displayed for each subsegment: Startpoint / endpoint coordinates, value averaged over the subsegment, length of the subsegment, the value and position of the resultant.

7.  Updated list of ARBO models

•   Updated ARBO model database offers new type of elements manufactured by Aschwanden. AxisVM detects overlapping ARBO elements at corners and recommends the usage of E type elements. AxisVM recognizes situations where the moments are inverted and recommends the usage of “o+u Z” elements.

9.  Checking elastically embedded beam as a foundation

10.  Geotechnical combinations

•   Geotechnical combinations can be generated explicitly to check foundations. These combinations give more economical results than ULS.

•   If Critical combination formula is set to Auto in the Display parameters dialog, the foundation design module will automatically use geotechnical combinations to determine sliding and bearing utilization of the soil. It is also possible to check values of these critical combinations in the model by setting the formula to Custom and selecting a geotechnical combination.

11.  Further filtering options for IFC import

•   When importing IFC files it may be necessary to control the import of objects based on their history (separating new, deleted, modified, unchanged objects) and/or their object type, layer assigments, property sets (fire resistance or strength information).
The available filtering options depend on the content of the IFC file.

12.  Export of actual reinforcement to IFC

•   The actual reinforcement specified in AxisVM can be exported to the IFC file by checking the Export reinforcement checkbox at the bottom of the Save dialog. To use this feature the IFC 2x3 format must be selected.
To control how the rebar scheme will be exported click on Preferences. Here the geometry of rebars can be fine-tuned. An example IFC output as displayed in Solibri Model Viewer:

13.  Other new features:
