•   PNL module

The PNL module models beam, rib and surface elements with nonlinear (elastic or plastic) material with a discretized section model (instead of the Ilyushin model). Plates and shells are represented by equal thickness layers, cross-section of beams and ribs are meshed. Stress distribution is determined using Navier’s hypothesis (plane sections remain plane) and applying the nonlinear material model on each sub-element. Stress components are the same as in the linear material model. For surface elements results are obtained in top, center and bottom plane, for beam and rib cross-sections in the stress points and along the outline. Display the plastic strain to find where the plastic state is reached and how those areas are distributed.

•    New module TD9 - Timber design optimization

This new module helps optimizing cross-sections in timber structures like SD9 for steel design. Optimization can be based on any load case or combination, and can select from cross-section library, model cross-section or a range of parametric cross-sections. Maximum allowed efficiency can be set, performed checks can be selected. The objective of the optimization can be minimum weight, minimum height or minimum width. The calculation runs in multi-threaded mode.
